CRIMINAL LAW REFORM INFORMATION NOW AVAILABLE

South Dakota is currently undergoing a process of review of its criminal laws and ways by which the state handles incarceration. The information provided comes from the Pew Center on the States who reviewed the incarceration and crime rates in South Dakota.

Attached are the first two documents presented to the Governor's Working Group on Criminal Law Reform. The statistics show that South Dakota is incarcerating more people than surrounding states even though we have the same crime rate. Read the information and statistics below in the PDF reports.
