Kadyn Wittman joined the ACLU of South Dakota in 2017 and serves as the community engagement associate for the ACLU of South Dakota, North Dakota, and Wyoming.
Her background in community engagement and non-profit work is supported by her degree in gender studies and sociology from Augustana University. As the community engagement associate, Kadyn works to connect under-represented constituencies and cities with the ACLU’s work in South Dakota through community events and public education opportunities. She launched a statewide volunteer program in the summer of 2018 and continues to cultivate and train ACLU volunteers across South Dakota. Kadyn is heavily involved in the planning and execution of the ACLU of South Dakota’s annual benefit, “Cheers to Liberty,” and serves as a representative of the organization at community events such as Sioux Falls Pride and the Festival of Cultures.
Kadyn’s passion has always been found in community engagement and development. In January 2017, she organized the Women’s March in Sioux Falls, drawing a crowd of more than 3,500 people to peacefully rally downtown. She is an active volunteer with Planned Parenthood of South Dakota and a previous member of PFLAG South Dakota.
