SoDakPride Portraits: Pierre

October 12, 2019 @ 11:00 am 12:00 pm

You know what they say: A picture is worth a thousand words.

That’s why we’re working with the Pierre Area Center for Equality, Pierre Pride, and Joshua Penrod, local professional photographer to give LGBTQIA Two Spirit people and their families an opportunity to take a portrait that shows the pride in who they are.

Whether you identify as LGBTQIA2S+ or as an ally, your voice matters.

Your story matters.

And it can help change people’s hearts and minds about LGBTQIA2S+ people in South Dakota. Because despite the remarkable gains LGBTQIA2S+ people have achieved in recent years, we still have work to do to make sure that everyone can live openly without discrimination and enjoy equal rights, personal autonomy, and freedom of expression and association.

Photos will be taken for free at the Capitol Rotunda, at 500 E Capitol Ave, from 11 a.m. to noon on Oct. 12. Sign up for your session today. At the end of each session, attendees can meet with me briefly to discuss ways they can share their photos and stories through social media, blog posts, media and more.

Each attendee or family of attendees will be granted one fully edited photo for their personal or professional use.

Please register by 5 p.m. Oct. 7. Refer any questions or requests for accommodations (ADA and etc…) to Adam at by Oct. 5.
