Update: House Bill 1288 was tabled in commitee effectively killing the bill

Description

House Bill 1288 would amend certain emergency provisions in the State to add “disorderly conduct” and “protests” to a list of events that could allow the Governor to suspend the rules of a state agency during an emergency.

ACLU position

The ACLU of South Dakota opposes House Bill 1288. This is clearly another attempt by state legislators to stifle free speech and chill protest.
