Senate Bill 150 would revise the penalty for possession of substances containing cannabis intended for consumption other than by smoking or inhalation.
The ACLU of South Dakota supports SCR 7. Though drug use is undoubtedly a serious issue, we can’t incarcerate our way out of addiction.
UPDATE: This bill was voted on in the Senate State Affairs committee, and with a 7-2 vote it was voted to be deferred to the 41st Legislative Day, killing the bill.
The ACLU of South Dakota opposes Senate Bill 55. No student should feel pressured in public school to adopt certain religious beliefs. This bill sends a thinly veiled message that only students who believe in God are welcome.
UPDATE: Senate Bill 49 was deferred to the 41st Legislative Day and did not pass.
UPDATE: This bill was heard by the Senate, and was stopped by an 18-12 vote.
