Background: Senate Bill 147 would prohibit a person from refusing to identify oneself in certain circumstances and to provide a penalty therefor.

Our Stance: The ACLU of South Dakota opposes Senate Bill 147.

This bill would allow for unreasonable search and seizure by allowing gas station employees to detain individuals against their will and compel individuals to provide the employee their identification.
