Sexual orientation has been listed as a class protected from discrimination under the Western Dakota Technical College’s policy since 2015. On Monday, members of Rapid City Area Schools Board of Education, the governing body of Western Dakota Tech, are slated to discuss the addition of gender identity to the list of protected classes in the college’s discrimination and harassment policy; this will be the third and final reading of the policy.

Now, it’s time to take action! Show your support of voting in favor of the addition of gender identity to Western Dakota Tech’s list of protected classes by emailing members of Rapid City Area Schools Board of Education ahead of their Monday meeting.

Your voice in support of this measure will speak volumes, and potentially guarantee the passage of this addition. The meeting will take place September 17 at 5:30 PM at Western Dakota Tech (800 Michelson Drive, Rapid City, SD) and is open to the public – make sure you send your e-mail in advance to ensure the board members see it before they vote!
