Get pumped up while trekking to the polls with our Election Day playlist.

What’s an election without a soundtrack?

In an effort to get South Dakota voters excited about casting their ballots, the ACLU of South Dakota has created an Election Day playlist on Spotify. The playlist is a locally curated list of eclectic songs. Some are up-tempo tracks, some have a patriotic bent and others nod to civil rights and empowerment, and include:

  • “This Land is Your Land” by Woody Guthrie
  • “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears
  • “Revolution” by The Beatles
  • “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyonce
  • “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus
  • “Waiting on the World to Change” by John Mayer
  • “Fight the Power” by Public Enemy

The 46-song playlist is available on Spotify

The American Civil Liberties of South Dakota is a non-partisan organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of civil liberties and civil rights. The ACLU believes freedoms of press, speech, assembly, and religion, as well as the rights to due process, equal protection and privacy, are fundamental to a free people. In addition, the ACLU seeks to advance constitutional protections for groups traditionally denied their rights, including people of color, women, and the LGBT communities. The ACLU of South Dakota carries out its work through selective litigation, lobbying at the state and local level, and through public education and awareness of what the Bill of Rights means for people of South Dakota.
